2019 Election Posters Poll

In an effort to gain an understanding from our community we offered a poll via the Greystones Tidy Towns Facebook page. We received over 600 responses to our poll question. It was a landslide with 95% in favour of a ban against Election Posters being placed arbitrarily around the village. It is important to understand that these posters are generally non-recyclable, output CO2 pollution to produce, and often break off in the wind and become rubbish. The plastic ties used to secure them are rarely taken down and are an eyesore. They are a type of single-use plastic that is detrimental.

You can read more about the National effort to eliminate plastic from elections and find out about the other 100 towns and villages across Ireland (including Delgany and Wicklow) that already enforce this ban at https://www.posterfree.ie/.
